Hypnotherapy pre-talk

The hypnotherapy pre-talk

The hypnotherapy pre-talk is where we lay the foundations for a really enjoyable and effective session. It’s where we demystify and educate about what hypnosis is really like and coach you on how to get the most out of your experience. It is a chance to ask questions and to start having some fun with a few interactive ‘warm up exercises’. When you are ready we simply move into the therapy.

In the video below I have recorded a typical hypnotherapy pre-talk that I would normally do at the start of a session. While it does not give you the chance to ask questions it will allow you to get an idea of what hypnosis is (and what it is not.) Feel free to email if you have any other questions or look at the FAQs at the bottom of the contact page here. I have tried to cover most of the typical misconceptions but if you have others just let me know. I am happy to add to them to the FAQ’s as I am sure others will benefit too.

Bringing it all together

In summary the key points of the hypnotherapy pre-talk were:

a) Hypnosis is like a trip to the cinema. It involves:

  • Focused attention

  • Suspending disbelief

  • Being receptive to suggestions

  • Being responsive to the ideas that the suggestions create.

b) The brain does not know what is real and what is imagined. This can allow us to create problems such as worrying but also allows us to use hypnotherapy to create solutions.

c) All hypnosis is self hypnosis and is an active collaborative effort. It is done ‘with’ you rather than ‘to’ you.

d) Be confident in your hypnotic ability

e) Imagine as if things are real then imagine you are not imagining

f) Most importantly have fun

I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about hypnosis and that you can’t wait to settle down in the chair and experience it first hand!

For more information or to book a session please feel free to get in contact and I look forward to seeing you soon.
